She came to the mall late
\nAnd my frustration showed up,
\nWhich was exacerbated by her too short a mini skirt,
\nBut her eyes remained timidly serene
\nAnd a mischievous smile was trying to sneak on her face.<\/p>\n
We unloaded our barrel of inquiries,
\nThen walked on to a more mundane business of what we should do next,
\nIdeas were tossed out like tissues till we settled on shopping –
\nShe needed to buy clothes \u2013 the women\u2019s shopping I cannot stand.<\/p>\n
I went through the torture of her trying out an endless parade of dresses,
\nUntil I fell asleep standing outside the fitting room,
\nThen she woke me up with a thud by her bag,
\nAnd yanked me out of the store.<\/p>\n
Next we went to a toy store,
even though we were still single,
\nShe hugged the dolls and I tried out the police cars,
\nWhen our eyes met accidently we felt we had known each other since our childhoods,
\nWe left the store empty handed but a lot younger.<\/p>\n
While walking past a jewelry shop she abruptly jetted into it,
\nAfter skimming the ornaments,
she intensely zeroed on the rings,
\nBreaking herself from the reverie, she coyly locked her eyes into mine,
\nI wondered why a ring was needed when we had already become two spirits living in a unity.<\/p>\n
Then we merged into the gushing throng of the people in the mall,
\nSoaking in the anonymity it provided –
\nLove needs its space to breathe,
\nOtherwise, it grows by itself.<\/p>\n
Finally we slumped into supper,
\nShe gleaned into our future,
\nI listened without venturing anything –
\nNot wanting to snip the contours of her dream.<\/p>\n
On the way home we saw the stars twinkling,
\nIt seemed they knew what was happening to us,
\nAt the end, not venturing more, I kissed her neck pendant,
\nShe shot back and asked, \u201cIs that all?\u201d
\nThen we said good bye to each other,
\nBut knowing well they were a waste of words,
\nAs we are never away from each other.<\/p>\n
