Sometimes I wake up suddenly in the middle of the night,
\nThinking that I was getting your benediction of permitting me to die soon.<\/p>\n
Long years I have spent chasing the world and you on earth;
\nLeaving me exhausted,
disenchanted, and soulless.<\/p>\n
If you were to allow me to die soon, it would not be that you are cruel;
\nBut that you are imaginative and soul full;
\nYou understand that the endless procession of life
\nCan be emptying and soulless.
\nMy death is the ultimate relief to both of us.<\/p>\n
People do not understand that death can be liberation from the imprisoned life;
\nActually, my life is not imprisoned, but it is very restrained;
\nYour love pulls me wherever it is and so its uni-
directionality restrains me.
\nThe scope of my life remains limited.<\/p>\n
Freedom is the fourth dimension of life,
\nWhose benevolence many human beings cannot understand.
\nDeath imparts a freedom to life,
\nBringing it closer to infinity.<\/p>\n
Remember, when you took my hand
\nAnd guided me through all the terraces of Shalimar Bagh.
\nThat was the freedom of the worldly order:
\nTo savor beauty and creativity,
\nBut the freedom in death is of spiritual dimension:
\nIt is the liberation of the soul.<\/p>\n
One day you kissed me and said that
\nFrom that moment onward I would be immortal;
\nI like immorality but for a living being there can be no immorality –
\nThe only true immorality is in death.<\/p>\n
Still, iconic, and yet penetrating,
\nDeath is a beauty enshrined in eternity.<\/p>\n
Death loves without fear of social form and constrains of time;
\nDeath is love that can never stain, wrinkle, and lose form.<\/p>\n
Be merciful dearest and permit to merge with the un-turbulent universe of death,
\nSo that I am forever with you.<\/p>\n
