From morning till evening, from birth till death,
\nModern man\u2019s life is stitched with work.<\/p>\n
Is work the elixir of life or a gateway to happiness?<\/p>\n
Work as practiced by modern man is a way to earn money,
\nIt is not meant to be spiritual or artistic.<\/p>\n
Money cannot be the salvation of man,
\nAs materialism cannot connect with man\u2019s soul.
\nBut why does this blindness persist?
\nIt persists because materialism on surface
\nGives power in the world and gratifies the senses.
\nIt seems an easy path to happiness,
\nBut it never provides that.<\/p>\n
Gratification of senses leads to sex,
\nWhich is a highly venerated elixir of modern life.<\/p>\n
Does an overactive sex-life give us joy and liberation?
\nOr is it a series of momentary excitements which quickly evaporate,
\nLeaving behind a residue of effete purposefulness.
\nThe extraordinary importance given to sex
\nSignifies the shallowness of the modern man\u2019s soul.<\/p>\n
Modern man does not as such pursue happiness:
\nHe does not know what it is.
\nHis approach to life is mechanical,
\nThat is it is physical with mind giving commands.
\nGranted such a detached posture of life engenders peacefulness
\nBut it does not produce positive happiness.<\/p>\n
One of the widely popular fixes of the modern culture is to keep working.
\nThis is supposed to entice the mind in a frame of happiness,
\nBut we know an unhappy mind cannot be fixed by work alone.<\/p>\n
The only true environment of the modern times is loneliness.
\nIt is present at work, in society, and at home.
\nToday\u2019s man must work lonely at work
\nAs colleagues do not communicate much.
\nAt home there is a hidden tension with the spouse
\nAnd a political play with the children.
\nOften people do not know who their neighbors are.
\nLoneliness is the cruelest legacy of the modern life.<\/p>\n
In The Age Of Technology there are a plenty of creature comforts,
\nBut there is thinness of spirit,
\nPaucity of love,
\nAnd a wide halo of loneliness.<\/p>\n
