Rob Hunter

I’m Rob Hunter, owner and sole operator of Tamborine Mountain Bodywork. I started the business in 2019, just before COVID, in response to ongoing dissatisfaction from clients who felt that many massage clinics offered rushed relaxation sessions with benefits that didn’t last. I expanded my services into full bodywork, incorporating the osteopathic principles I’ve studied—where problems are holistically assessed and treated using the most advanced techniques available. I’ve developed a way to bring this “clinic” experience directly to your home, on your schedule—after work, Saturdays, or before school—at a time that suits you.

I’m an ordinary Tamborine resident with a passion for helping people in pain. I’m over 65 a grandfather, a gardener, a dog owner, and a lifelong student. I’ve lived here for 21 years and hold a Diploma in Remedial Massage and a Degree in Clinical Science (Osteopathic Studies), and I’m an accredited Complex Lymphoma practitioner. I support clients who can’t attend a formal physical therapy clinic due to work or family commitments, mobility challenges, disability, fatigue, stress, or time pressures. In short, I care for people like you—those who are in pain and out of time.

Local experience

I have worked for eighteen years in the Australian Public Service and fifteen years in the construction industry. I regularly hike, garden, attend, raise chickens, play with dogs and grandchildren… in fact, I live a typical busy hinterland lifestyle… just like yours!

More importantly, I’m local… well nearly, I’ve only been here for twenty years… and I’ve experienced a span of life that means I can understand what it means to feel the loss of range of motion in an arm or leg; the weakness that wasn’t there before; the aftermath of a fall or accident; the pain and frustration of putting up with less than you know you can. It doesn’t have to be that way.

I can help.

Bodywork therapy is

A hands-on process of addressing your specific therapy and layering it into the forms of massage… so that you receive a gentle, targeted session which will leave you refreshed and enabled.

It involves releasing “stuck” tissue.. knots… and reestablishing original movement patterns. It affects the whole body and plays upon the natural functions of the nervous system. This happens without medication, without blind acceptance (every process is explained beforehand), but it does take time. Your body needs a full hour to free itself…. and another hour to reassimilate.

By the founding osteopathic works of A T Still, J. Upledger, A. Walls, and more recent leaders in physical therapy- Ida Rolf, B. Mulligan, G. Maitland, T. Meyers, T Luchau and J Hesch with a strong emphasis upon posture.

My personal philosophy is to live life to its fullest potential and I want that for you, too.
