wp-block-heading\">To Diet or Not to Diet\u2026<\/h1>\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">That is the question ?<\/h1>\n<p>I don\u2019t like the word diet.\u00a0 It sounds restrictive, controlled, hard to do and something you can\u2019t do for the rest of your life.\u00a0 If you feel that way too, then don\u2019t diet\u2026\u2026\u2026just practice a healthy nutrition lifestyle.\u00a0 You\u2019re probably saying\u2026.\u201dwhat the heck is that?\u201d.\u00a0 Let\u2019s get into it.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here\u2019s the reality.<\/h2>\n<p>Eating is not only a physical requirement to stay alive, it\u2019s part of you.\u00a0 It\u2019s an emotional event.\u00a0 When you get down to it, the act of eating brings out emotional feelings:\u00a0 satisfied (just enough), stuffed (way too much), frustrated (not enough).\u00a0 These 3 states pretty much depend on two things:\u00a0 taste and amount.\u00a0 Did the food taste good and do you feel like you ate enough.<\/p>\n<p>You are a complex person.\u00a0 Realize that and accept it.<\/p>\n<p>The goal is to bridge the science (how many calories your body needs to reach your goal) with\/to your emotion (acceptable satisfaction).\u00a0 We dealt with the science in the last newsletter.\u00a0 What about your feelings.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s going on in your head.<\/h2>\n<p>Let\u2019s not even consider the nutritional value of food.\u00a0 Let\u2019s just consider why we eat.\u00a0 First, you want something that tastes good.\u00a0 Second, you\u2019re trying to satisfy a craving or a physical need.\u00a0 You are a complex emotional being.\u00a0 Under those stressful times of life, do you tend to eat more or less?\u00a0 Neither is good.\u00a0 This brings up one of Brene Brown\u2019s points on her Ted Talk about being a \u201cnumbing\u201d society.\u00a0 Here\u2019s a link to the YouTube video\u00a0<a About 14.5 minutes into she talks about \u201cwe are a numbing society\u201d.\u00a0 Embrace your humanness.\u00a0 To deal with our stress, we may do things that aren\u2019t the best for us.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So\u2026\u2026what\u2019s next.<\/h2>\n<p>Diets are okay for a short term, but they don\u2019t work as a lifelong healthy nutrition lifestyle.\u00a0 Realize that you can not stay on a restrictive eating regiment forever.<\/p>\n<p>Diets should be a short term means to help you get to an end (your goal).\u00a0 The key to a diet is to learn about yourself.\u00a0 How is your body responding?\u00a0 If a specific diet works, realize why it\u2019s working.\u00a0 We\u2019ll talk about some specific diets in the next newsletter.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the main
