My article was published in the current issue of the North Carolina Medical Journal examining the historic view of substance use as an episodic issue rather than a chronic disease. The article disusses the improved outcomes seen in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) compared to short term treatments like 28 day inpatient or 12 week outpatinet programs and some of the factors that influence these outcomes.
